At 16:44 Duluth Fire Department responded to a structure fire at Tri- Towers complex at 222 N 2nd Ave E. Upon arrival crews ascended to the 13th floor for a fire in an apt. Upon entering the fire apt. crews located an unresponsive male and removed him to the hallway to perform resuscitation efforts. The efforts proved unsuccessful. The fire was knocked down by the sprinkler system and crews were able to extinguish remaining fire. 20 firefighters from Downtown, Lincoln Park, and Spirit Valley fire stations responded to the fire scene. Damage is estimated in excess of $12,000.This incident is under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal's Office with no further information at this time. There were no fire department injuries.
