Volunteers Needed to Help Tackle Invasive Plants
[Duluth, MN] - Volunteers are invited to help support the City of Duluth Parks and Recreation's Duluth Invaders service initiative to tackle invasive plant species. Throughout October and early November, volunteers will help remove Buckthorn and Japanese Knotweed from various park locations. All tools and equipment are provided. Registration is recommended as service locations may change and are weather dependent.
These volunteer events take place every Tuesday from October 7, 2014 to November 11, 5:00-6:30 PM. Locations and dates are listed below:
Oct. 7 | Lakewalk & 21st Ave E
Oct. 14 | Hartley Nature Center
Oct. 21 | Western Waterfront & Pulaski
Oct. 28 | Irving Park & Main Street
Nov. 4 | Chester Park (parking lot)
Nov. 11 | Lester Park (parking lot)
The Duluth Invaders service initiative is dedicated to slowing the spread of terrestrial, invasive plants through education, eradication and restoration. Volunteers of all ages are welcome and should dress appropriately for the weather.
