Public Invited to Help Plant Trees in September
Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth is seeking volunteers to take part in a Tree Planting Party along the Cross City Trail this September.
“We are excited to be planting trees along the Cross City trail,” says Shawna MullenEardley, Trees Inspector for the City of Duluth. “Trees are a great amenity for bikeways, acting as windbreaks and providing shade on sunny days.”
The Tree Planting Parties are sponsored by the City of Duluth Parks and Recreation division on the following dates and times:
Thursday, September 11, 5-7 pm
Meeting location: West Railroad Street at Harbor Drive (parking in public lot across Harbor Drive)

Monday, September 15, 5-7 pm
Meeting location: West Railroad Street at 5th Ave West (park at Bayfront Park lot)

The Tree Planting Parties are open to volunteers of all ages. Register as a family, an individual or as a group using this online form or by contacting Cheryl Skafte, Volunteer Coordinator for the City of Duluth, at 218-341-8454 or cskafte@duluthmn.gov. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged.
Participants should wear sturdy shoes, dress for the weather and bring a shovel and gloves (if you have them), although tools will be provided.
