SUBJECT: Warmer by the Lake to be held February 13th

"Warmer By the Lake" to be held February 13, 2010 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at Bayfront Festival Park

Bayfront Festival Park will be the place to be in Duluth on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the eleventh annual "Warmer By the Lake". Everyone will be able to enjoy the traditional activities of skating, hayrides, and hot chocolate and cookies but with the Olympic spirit.

From February 12th to the 28th, 2010, the Olympic spirit will play out in Vancouver inspiring us to be the best that we can be. What better time and opportunity for Duluth to hold a community-wide Olympic Celebration? Friends of the Parks, True North AmeriCorps, Duluth’s Park and Recreation, local businesses and clubs are joining forces to do just that, starting with an Opening Ceremony on February 13, presented by "Warmer by the Lake." This ceremony will focus on Duluth’s Olympic history and future and will include a parade of community centers and local winter sport clubs to kick off the next two weeks of events.

Warmer by the Lake participants will be able to enjoy ice skating, snow shoeing, sledding, marshmallow roasting, and hay rides. Everyone can come in out of the cold and enjoy free hot chocolate and cookies as well as enjoy some festive music in the large warming tent or warm up by the bonfire. So pack up the kids, grab your skates, and head on down to Bayfront for a fun-filled day of winter activities and get into the Olympic spirit.
