INCIDENT LOCATION: 7 S 64th Ave W
At 5:32 pm, on Saturday May, 17th, 2014, the Duluth Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a house fire at 7 S. 64th Ave W. in Duluth’s West Duluth neighborhood.
The Captain from the first arriving fire apparatus reported smoke coming from the roof line. Upon completion of his walk around the outside of the house, He encountered heavy smoke from the rear of the house. This crew entered the front door and began fire extinguishment.
The homeowner informed the crew her dog was still inside the house. The dog was located and brought out unharmed.
19 firefighters responded from Downtown, Gary, Lincoln Park, and Spirit Valley Fire Stations.
The Homeowner suffered minor smoke inhalation, and was treated by Gold Cross Ambulance. Homeowner was not hospitalized, and will be staying with family.
Damage is estimated in excess of $45,000.00
Fire Marshal’s office has determined the cause of the fire to be an appliance malfunction.
