Duluth Parks Commission Meeting on Hartley Mini-Master Plan is May 14; Public Comment Period Extended
[Duluth, MN] – The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation Division has been working closely with the public on future improvements for Hartley Park. After much consideration of the input received from residents and user groups, the City will be modifying its process to accommodate additional time for public review and comment on several key points at an upcoming Parks Commission meeting.
The Duluth Parks Commission will be meeting on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 5:00 pm at the Marshall School Fregeau Auditorium (1215 Rice Lake Road). During the meeting, Parks staff will present information related to a handful of key components of the Plan and ask for Commission input. There will also be time reserved for public testimony.
Residents and members of the public will have an opportunity to comment in person or on the Parks website regarding:
- A proposed route for the Duluth Traverse mountain bike trail,
- The surface material for Old Hartley Road,
- Changes and improvements to cross country ski trails,
- Parking accommodations and options for entry points into the park, and
- Trail routes near Hartley Pond.
Redesigned maps and other materials will be posted on the Parks webpage following the Commission meeting. The public is invited to review the information and submit comments between May 15th and May 28th at http://www.duluthmn.gov/parks/mini-master-plans-2013/.
The final proposal will be reviewed by the Parks Commission and forwarded to the City Council for approval by late summer.
