Duluth Parks Commission Lends Support for Proposed Recreation Plan in Gary New Duluth
[Duluth, MN] – The Duluth Parks Commission is lending their support to a proposed plan by the Gary New Duluth Alliance to update and add new recreational amenities to the Gary New Duluth Recreation Center and park area.
At their March 12, 2014 meeting, Parks Commission members voted unanimously to support the plan which proposes an updated skate park, a new pavilion, disc golf course, soccer field, a sport court, community garden and storm water drainage features in addition to other amenities. The Gary New Duluth Alliance plans to raise private funds, garner additional community partners, and pursue grants to support the implementation of these new structures and features. The plan will occur in five phases. Implementation is dependent on funding.
A resolution will be going forward to the Duluth City Council tonight seeking their support of the Alliance’s proposal.
