INCIDENT LOCATION: 8900 Block of Congdon Blvd.

At 0702 hours this morning, the Duluth Fire Department was dispatched to report of a vehicle accident with injuries in the 8700 block of Congdon Blvd. # 6 Engine from Lakeside was first on the scene within 8 minutes. They reported a single vehicle accident with a car over a guardrail and approximately 50 - 75 feet down laying next to Lake Superior. Other units responded from downtown and the UMD station to assist in the rescue. There was one patient in the vehicle. He was somewhat conscious, but very cold. The engine of the vehicle was cold to the touch indicating he had been there for some time. The temperature at the time of the rescue was -13 degrees F. The patient was extricated from the car, and moved up the cliff to the roadside via a stokes stretcher and a rope haul system. The patient was transported to St Lukes Hospital via Gold Cross Ambulance. No further information is available about the condition of the patient.
