INCIDENT LOCATION: 326 N 20th Ave W

 At 7:13 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2013, the Duluth Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 326 N. 20th Ave W.  Upon arrival, crews found fire coming from the basement and 1st floor windows of a 2 story single family dwelling.  Within minutes, fire was coming from all the windows in the house on both the first and second floors and the basement.

Due to the heavy fire conditions, an exterior attack of the fire went on for more than 5 hours.  A standby crew will remain on the scene over night to watch for reignition in the house as there is an occupied neighboring home close to the fire building.

The homeowner verified that the home was unoccupied since early December.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and will be under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal's office.

Damage to the structure is estimated at more than $45,000.00 The home is a total loss.

20 firefighters from the Lincoln Park, West Duluth, and Downtown fire stations responded to this incident.  The department Safety Officer and Deputy Chief also responded to assist.
