At 01:43 this morning , the Duluth Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire at 309 N 63rd Ave W.

Upon arrival, the first units found a fully involved enclosed front porch on fire.  Crews knocked down the fire and searched building for occupants.  Homeowner had escaped with her 4 year old son who had woke her after hearing the smoke detectors sounding. There were no injuries reported.

Crews were able to contain the fire to the enclosed porch but the entire structure had significant smoke and heat damage.  Damage estimates are $25,000 to structure and $15,000 to contents.  The property is insured.

Th Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the origin and cause of the fire.  19 firefighters from West Duluth, Lincoln Park, Gary and Headquarters responded along with Gold Cross Ambulance.
