At 18:46 this evening the Duluth Fire Department responded to a report of a fire on the back of a house at 2429 E 2nd St. Upon arrival, crews found a large three story single family home with the rear porch on fire extending up the side of the house. The house was occupied by the owners at the time of the fire and evacuated safely.
Crews advanced hose lines and quickly knocked the fire down. Crews were on the scene for over an hour overhauling and extinguishing hot spots inside the wall and floor spaces.
There were no injuries reported during this fire and initial damage estimates are set at $15,000 to the structure and $10,000 to contents. The origin and cause are under investigation by the Fire Marshal's office.
