At 0050 this morning the Duluth Fire Department responded to report of a house on fire at 4109 Grand Avenue. Initial arriving crew from Lincoln Park reported heavy fire and a fully involved main level of the two story home.

The fire spread rapidly to the second floor while crews worked to protect neighboring structures. The adjacent home to the west, 4113, received damage to the vynil siding, but crews were able to keep it from further damage.

The fire travelled quickly through what appears to be a vacant home. No signs of occupants were found and an attempt to reach the listed property owner was unsuccessful.

Due to the nature of the incident, an additiona engine company was called to the scene, making for a total of 24 firefighters that were on the scene.

Crews were on the scene for over three hours performing extensive overhaul efforts. The damage is listed as the total value of the structure, or $60,000. In addition, the siding damage to the neighboring property is estinated at $5,000.

The Duluth Police Department was on hand to assist with traffic control, and the Duluth Fire Marshal's Office is investigating as to origin and cause.

No injuries were reported at this incident.
