SUBJECT: City of Duluth and Superior Hiking Trail Update

City of Duluth Trail Update
The following is the latest City of Duluth trails update:
The COGGS mountain biking trails are not open due to wet conditions. It is possible the trails will be open next week.
Kingsbury Trail is closed.
Western Waterfront Trail is passable. Hikers are asked to use caution.
The Lakewalk is repaired and open to the public.
Chester Trail is closed
Lester Ski Trail is currently being surveyed for damage. Use with caution.
Hartley Trail is open.
Lincoln Trail is closed.
Superior Hiking Trail Update

Jay Cooke HQ to Jay Cooke Grand Portage Parking Lot: Closed, due to closure of Jay Cooke State Park
Jay Cooke Grand Portage Parking Lot to Fond du Lac: Closed, due to closure of Jay Cooke State Park and closure of Fond du Lac spur trail
Fond du Lac to 123rd Ave West: Closed, due to closure of Fond du Lac spur trail. Hiking from 12rd Ave West to the west is possible, but you need to hike back to this trailhead.
123rd Ave West to Magney-Snively: Open, but may still be some closures of Skyline Parkway.
Magney Snively to Spirit Mountain: Open, but bridge is gone over Knowlton Creek. Wet water crossing is possible.
Spirit Mountain to Kingsbury Creek: Closed, due to washout along Kingsbury Creek spur trail. Detour being worked on. Snowmobile bridge at base of Spirit Mountain spur trail is there. Rough hiking in some parts of this section.
Kingsbury Creek to Skyline at Highland/Getchell: Closed, due to washout along Kingsbury Creek spur trail. Detour being worked on. Trail is hikeable from the Skyline at Highland/Getchell trailhead going southwest.
Skyline at Highland/Getchell to N 24th Ave West: Open, but city Miller Creek Bridge is damaged. To cross Miller Creek, where SHT crosses Lincoln Park Drive, walk to street upstream of bridge, cross over on street, and walk back to trail on N 24th Ave W.
N 24th Ave West to Twin Ponds: Open
Twin Ponds to Rose Garden: Open
Rose Garden to Hartley: Open, treadway is rough but hikeable along the Chester Creek Trail section.
Hartley to Martin: Closed, due to closure of Vermilion Road. Trail is hikeable. Spur trail to Hawk Ridge is hikeable.
