To kick off the annual Fire Prevention Week, the Duluth Fire Department is hosting an Open House/Free Barbeque on Saturday, October 3rd at Fire Station # 4, located at 425 W. College Street, from 11:00 A.M to 2:00 P.M.
Duluth Mayor Don Ness will begin the event by announcing a proclomation at 11:00 A.M. In addition to tours of the fire station, firefighters will be on hand to teach children the importance of having an emergency escape plan for their home. Duluth Fire Chief John Strongitharm says; "Fire Prevention Week is always a great reminder for folks to check their smoke detectors and ensure that fire safety and exiting the home are talked about with the whole family".
For adults attending the event, a free blood pressure screening will be available.
Duluth Firefighters welcome all to please stop by for a free hot dog and soda as well as to learn about all of the services provided to Duluth by the fire department.
