The Duluth Fire Department reponded to a report of a structure fire at 2420 W 2nd St. Upon arrival found smoke coming from front 3rd floor window of a duplex. All occupants were out of the building. Firefighters advanced hose lines into 3rd floor and cut ventilation holes in the roof. The fire took approximately 2 hours to extinguish.
The 3rd floor had extensive fire damage including the roof. 2nd sustained extensive water and smoke damage. Intial estimates are set at $40,000.
There were no injuries as a result of this fire. Firefighters from Headquarters, Lincoln Park and West Duluth reponded to this fire. The origin is under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal's office.
