At 1331 hours this afternoon, Duluth firefighters responded to a structure fire at 710 W. Skyline Drive. Firefighters arrived on the scene within two minutes and found light smoke coming from the eaves of a two and one half story single family home. Occupants had evacuated the house after smelling smoke.
Firefighters quickly gained entry and found the fire in the attic of the home. Handlines were stretched while truck companies laddered the building to ventilate. The fire was quickly extinguished, but firefighters remained on the scene for approximately 90 minutes overhauling.
No injuries were reported and the origin and cause remains under investigation. Initial damage estimates are estimated at $40,000.
