Chance to own a piece of Duluth history: Skyline Planning and Preservation Alliance to sell old roadway signs

On Saturday, November 26th, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM the Skyline Planning and Preservation Alliance will have a one-day sale at the Coppertop Church to sell the old roadway signs which have guided visitors along Skyline Parkway since the 1970s.

The signs were designed by Nelson Long (1890-1977), who was the art director for the Stewart Taylor Company, and also worked for the Duluth News Tribune.

The proceeds from the sale will benefit SPPA and the Enger Tower and Park Restoration Project Fund. The two organizations are dedicated to improving facilities along the parkway. SPPA hopes to use the funds to clear trees from blocked lookouts.  All contributions will be tax deductible.

We have over 100 signs to sell. They come in a variety of sizes, both big and small. Some of the signs have never been out on the parkway and are in mint condition.

The Skyline Planning Preservation Alliance is offering this once in a lifetime opportunity to own one of these beautiful and historic signs. We know these signs will make a perfect Christmas gift for that special some one or perhaps just for yourself.
