INCIDENT LOCATION: 428 Anderson Road
The Duluth Fire Department responded to a report of smoke in the house this afternoon at 1:26 PM. Upon arrival we found smoke coming from the roof vents and upstairs windows of a 2-story home at 428 Anderson Road. All occupants were out of the home upon our arrival.
The response to the fire included 19 firefighters and 7 apparatus. Firefighters entered the home and found the smoke and heat banked to the floor on the second floor. Ventilation was started and windows were removed to clear the heat and smoke from the 2nd level.. A line was taken upstairs and the fire was located in a bedroom closet. It was quickly knocked down.
The homeowner reported that they arrived home after church and smelled smoke upon exiting the car. When they opened up the house door they heard the smoke detectors sounding and went inside to locate the fire. When they looked upstairs the smoke was thick almost to the floor so they exited the house and called 911.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. Damage to the home is estimated at $50,000 to building and contents. The owners will be unable to live in the house until major cleaning and repairs are made.
