Gypsy Moth Treatment Planned for Friday, June 24th

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) is planning its second Btk treatment for gypsy moth in Duluth’s Central Hillside neighborhood tomorrow (Friday) morning at dawn, depending on weather conditions. The first treatment was conducted on Sunday, June 12 and the second treatment was planned 7-10 days after that. But due to adverse weather conditions, the MDA has been forced to wait until now. Once started, the treatment should take approximately one to one and a half hours. The following is a link to the original press release of the treatment http://www.mda.state.mn.us/news/releases/2011/nr-2011-06-09-gmtreatment.aspx. To help area citizens stay informed, the MDA has set up an Arrest the Pest Hotline at 888-545-MOTH. The hotline will offer the latest details about treatment times. Updates before, during and after the treatments will also be given on MDA’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/mnagriculture) and MDA’s Twitter account (twitter.com/mnagriculture). MDA's website (www.mda.state.mn.us/gypsymoth) also has information about gypsy moths and control efforts.
