City of Duluth Announces New Parks and Recreation Initiative

Yesterday, Mayor Don Ness announced a series of public meetings which will solicit citizen’s opinion on city park and trail priorities.  The meetings will be held 6:00-7:30 PM on the following dates;

·   Tuesday, June 21st at City Center West-Evergreen Center-5830 Grand Avenue

·       Wednesday, June 22 at Central Hillside Community Center -12 East 4th Street

·       Tuesday, June 28 at Portman Community Center-4601 McCulloch Street

The City of Duluth completed a comprehensive Parks Master plan in December 2010 and is completing a Trails/Bikeways Master Plan in July 2011.  The people of Duluth, as part of the Parks Master Plan process, stated the need for additional resources on the city’s parks and trails/bikeways systems.  The City would like to know what you love about the city’s parks and trails/bikeways system and how do we build a parks and trails/bikeways system that we can afford.  In addition the City would like to find out from the public what you would like to see invested in and completed if there were extra resources/funding available.
