NATURE OF INCIDENT: House Fire @ 2725 W. 4th St.
CASE NO.:
INCIDENT DATE: 3/9/2011
INCIDENT TIME:
INCIDENT LOCATION: 2725 W. 4th St.

At approximately 02:00 this morning, the Duluth Fire Department responded to report of a structure fire at 2725 W. 4th St. Initial reports were that at least one occupant was trapped inside.

Upon arrival, #2 Engine from the Lincoln Park Fire Station reported heavy smoke coming from the second floor. They made entry along with crews from Headquarters Fire Station and Spirit Valley Fire Station and quickly extinguished a fire on the first floor of the home.

Fire damage was contained to the main floor, however heavy smoke damage is throughout the building.

There were four occupants of the home at the time of the fire; all of which were able to escape the blaze without injury. Two occupants escaped through a first floor window, unable to get past the fire to get to the door.

One dog was rescued from the home, but one cat succumbed to smoke. The occupants of the home were awakened by smoke alarms sounding, likely preventing a tragic outcome.

Initial damage estimates are placed at $20,000 to the structure, and another $20,000 to its contents. The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal's Office.
