Construction of 6th Ave E - 1st St to 2nd St

Planned for 2025:

The City of Duluth is constructing an extension of 6^th Avenue E from 1^st Street E to 2^nd Street E. The project will extend 6^th Avenue E to 1^st Street E along existing right-of-way. Due to the existing conditions extensive rock excavation and retaining wall construction is included in the project. Gas and water services will be extended up the new 6^th Avenue E section. A new sidewalk will run along the east side of the new roadway and new stairs will be constructed to provide access to existing buildings along the corridor. The 2^nd Street alley connecting to 6^th Avenue E will be turned into a dead end due to the required grade changes and a turnaround will be installed.
