New Art Sculpture to be Unveiled at Duluth's Wade Stadium May 26

[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation officials, Duluth Public Arts Commission, Minnesota State Arts Board, Minnesota Percent for Art in Public Places and the Duluth Huskies will convene to officially unveil a new art sculpture at Wade Stadium on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 1 pm. The sculpture appropriately titled, "Out of the Park" was created by Gail Simpson and Aris Georgiades of Actual Size Artworks. The public is invited to attend this unveiling.

Wade Stadium is currently the home field of the Duluth Huskies of the Northwoods League. Built in the 1940s with funds from the Works Progress Administration, the Wade gets its name from Frank Wade, the president of the 1935-1955 minor league team the Duluth Dukes. A recent restoration and historic preservation project secured the perimeter walls of the stadium, converted the field to artificial turf, and provided upgraded lighting and a new scoreboard. The stadium can hold over four thousand baseball fans and has been upgraded gradually as part of a revitalization effort in the neighborhood of West Duluth.

The City of Duluth and the Minnesota Percent for Art in Public Places program commissioned this artwork with funds provided by Minnesota’s 1984 "Percent for Art" statute.
