City Recommends No Lakewalk Trail Use in Canal Park Due to Icy Conditions
[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth recommends that the public not venture down to the Lakewalk Trail in Canal Park due to current icy conditions. The fierce winds have covered the trail (boardwalk and paved sections), benches and large boulders with thick layers of ice in addition to gravel and other debris that may have been pushed inland. With the snow covering icy areas, wind and cold temperatures today, pedestrians should play it safe and remain off of the Lakewalk Trail and immediate vicinity until conditions improve and staff are able to conduct proper maintenance. As a reminder, the parking lot by the Lake Superior Maritime Center was closed yesterday due to standing water and icy conditions.
