Gas Utility Project to Start on 48th Ave E in Lakeside Neighborhood

 

[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth is informing the public of a gas main replacement project at 48th Avenue East from Superior Street to Glenwood Street.  The new line will help reinforce a gas distribution main loop in the Lakeside neighborhood.  The City of Duluth has contracted with MP Technologies from Annandale Minnesota to construct this project. 

  

Initially in the project, an excavation on the Lake Walk Trail by 48th Avenue East will require the closure of the Trail between 48th and 52nd Ave East.  A recommended detour for trail users is to use the sidewalk of London Road.  Along the project route, each street intersection except Superior Street and Glenwood Street is expected to be closed for one or two days during construction.  During these interruptions, streets directly impacted will be signed as closed.        

 

The Lake Walk detour will commence on May 9th and last approximately three weeks.  Street closures will be random, and generally only during work hours.
