The Duluth Fire Department and ComfortSystems would like residents to help keep fire hydrants shoveled and clear of snow.  Whether you live in the city of Duluth or in another community, if you live near a fire hydrant you should make the conscious decision to keep it clear of snow and ice.

Please “ADOPT” a fire hydrant near your home for the winter.  If you have already adopted a hydrant in your neighborhood, thank you for your efforts.  This will ensure if you or your neighbors need hydrant service, the Duluth Fire Department will have easy speedy access to it.  Again, this is a great idea for all communities to “adopt”.

Another important safety topic for winter is keeping your furnace safe.  Please make sure your fuel regulator is shielded from falling ice, the air intake and exhaust are clear of snow and working properly and you have tested the batteries and operation of your Carbon Monoxide detector.

Remember, protecting your hydrant and your furnace, is protecting yourself!

For those of you in Duluth, If you have questions, you can  call Comfort Systems at 218.730.4050.
