Community policing is at the heart of our organization. Community officers are often out working in neighborhoods to build strong relationships with citizens and business owners. Engaging with our community in this way builds a collaborative partnership with our residents and businesses to develop solutions that works for Duluth’s unique neighborhoods and build trust.
If you have a non-emergency neighborhood issue, please get in touch with your neighborhood’s Community Officers. If you have an emergency, please call 911.
Programs
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a police officer? Perhaps you enjoy giving back through volunteering. We have several officer-run programs available to allow you to get involved in the Duluth Police Department. Below are some examples:
Police Explorers – Youth attend this program to explore a potential career in law enforcement.
Citizen Police Academy – Duluth citizens participate in this program to gain a clearer understanding of all that goes into the quick decisions of police work.
Volunteer in Policing (VIP) – Get police training and patrol in a squad as a volunteer police officer. While VIP citizens can’t intervene, we rely on their eyes and ears to find out about crimes in real time.
