Western Waterfront Trail Signage and Wayfinding
Project Status: Construction
The Western Waterfront Trail has been restored to its original width, greatly improving accessibility while restoring adjacent habitats. The wayfinding and signage plan calls for significant improvement of signage at both trailheads and along the trails proper. The Western Waterfront Trail will be the first major trail in the Corridor to receive a full signage upgrade.
Contractor is actively working on installation of sign footings and bases and will return in spring 2020 to install final fabricated signs.
Majority of signage is to be installed in 2019, with remaining signage and rest stops to be completed after the DNR restoration of Kingsbury Bay in 2020.
This project is funded in part using Federal funds under award NA17NOS4190062 from the Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972, as amended, administered by the Officer for Coastal Management, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), U.S. Department of Commerce provided to the Minnestoa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for Minnesota's Lake Superior Coastal Program.
