Green Step Cities

GreenStep Cities is a program administered by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency that was developed in 2008 to “challenge, assist, and recognize cities that were ‘green stars.’” Cities that have joined the program are given a list of 29 best practices and related actions to help build sustainable communities, and are ranked – steps 1 through 5 – based on the number of actions completed and performance metrics reported, among other factors. Duluth became a GreenStep City in 2014, reached Step 2 status in 2015, and is currently within a few actions of achieving Step 3.
