On Monday, April 10th, 2017, 36 year old Morgan James Baumann, of Duluth, was sentenced in U.S. District Court to 15 years in Federal Prison after pleading guilty to Conspiracy to distribute over 15 Kilograms of Methamphetamine, Possession of an Unregistered Machine Gun and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Baumann was charged following an extensive investigation by the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, Duluth Police, St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, Superior Police, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the ATF and the DEA. During the investigation 25 firearms including two machine guns and a sawed off shotgun, body armor, a homemade silencer and methamphetamine were seized by police.

Baumann has a previous conviction in Minnesota for Aggravated 2nd Degree Robbery and a previous conviction in U.S. District Court for Possession of a Sawed off Shotgun.

The investigators of the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force are unrelenting in their efforts to remove violent offenders from our streets.
