Western Waterfront Trail Signage and Wayfinding

Project Status: Planning

Project Overview: The Western Waterfront Trail by the Coastal Program and Conservation Partners Legacy Program have restored the trail to its original width, greatly improving accessibility, while restoring adjacent habitats. The City of Duluth obtained $89,000 through Minnesota Lake Superior Coastal grant to install 11 new ADA accessible benches, one picnic table and complete a wayfinding and signage plan. This plan calls for significant improvement of signage at both trailheads and along the trails proper. The Western Waterfront Trail will be the first major trail in the Corridor to get a full upgrade of signage.

Funding Source: $89,000 from the Minnesota Lake Superior Coastal Program

Estimated Completion: Majority of signage to be installed Spring of 2019, with remaining signage and rest stops to be completed after DNR restoration of Kingsbury Bay in 2020.
