Chief Gordon Ramsay

RamsayGordon Ramsay was appointed Duluth Police Chief by Mayor Herb Bergson in 2006. Chief Ramsay grew up in Duluth and attended Duluth public schools. He graduated from Duluth East High School and is a proud supporter of East athletics. Chief Ramsay began his police career in Wisconsin at the age of 20 and worked there for several years before returning to Duluth. During his career he has held assignments as a patrol officer, school resource officer, investigator, patrol sergeant, field training supervisor, community policing supervisor, training unit supervisor, patrol lieutenant and area commander prior to being promoted to Chief. His extensive community involvement and dedication to community policing played a major role in his appointment. He lives in Duluth with his family.

Chief Ramsay currently manages police and parking operations with a budget of $23 million and a staff of almost 200 employees. He can be reached at gramsay@duluthmn.gov
