Park Description

Located at the far east end of Duluth, Kitchi Gammi Park was established to ensure public access to Lake Superior. The park, including its popular stone-covered Brighton Beach, was first developed as a campground for auto tourists in 1922. While the park in no longer a campground, today it includes tables and grills for picnics with with stunning views of Lake Superior. The park is also the eastern terminus of Duluth’s Lakewalk.

This park is currently closed to vehicular traffic. A new road and parking will be constructed in 2023. Until that time, the Park is only accessible using the Lakewalk. The Park will also need to close in fall of 2022 for rehabilitation of existing park features and construction of new park elements.
