Summer Day Camps

For children who have completed kindergarten through sixth grade.

Parks & REC (Relationships, Exploration, Creativity) summer program for youth focusing on positive relationship building, exploring the city’s parks and trails, and encouraging creativity. These programs will offer outdoor activities, art projects, team games, nature play, learning opportunities, field trips, and more! Participants will be expected to be respectful, safe, and kind while at this program, and participation in all activities is encouraged!

Financial assistance available to families who qualify.  Follow registration link for more details. If you’re applying for financial assistance, please register on a desktop computer. The “Pay Later” function does not work on the mobile site. If you do not have access to a desktop computer, call Sam at 218-730-4306 for assistance registering.

 Spring Break Sports Fun

Spring Break drop-in sports sessions at the Essentia Duluth Heritage Center! Come play ultimate Frisbee, lacrosse, disc golf, group games, skating and more!

When: April 8-12, 2019

Where: Essentia Duluth Heritage Center - 120 N 30th Ave W

  Duluth Parks Day

Duluth Parks and Recreation is excited to again host Duluth Parks Day, an event that will engage community members in various activities at two different city parks. Come join Parks and Recreation staff in enjoying some of the amazing spaces that our city has to offer!

A new addition to Parks Day is an Public Open House at each location to inform the attendees on planned improvements for the parks and gain public input. Information boards will be on display so you can visit anytime during the designated times to learn more about the projects and discuss with City staff.

UPDATES TO PARKS DAY:

Due to the forecasted temperature, precipitation, and winds Saturday morning, the Duluth Parks and Recreation department’s Parks Day events will be changing.

The event at Brighton Beach will be cancelled.

The event at Central Hillside Park will now take place in the Washington Center gym (310 N 1st Ave.). Please enter the building on 1st Ave W between 3rd and 4th Street.

Activities in the Washington Center gym from 10 am – 1 pm will include basketball, disc golf, giveaways for the first 50 youth, snacks, and an Open House about the future plans for Central Hillside Park.

 Annual Meeting

The Duluth Parks and Recreation Commission will be hosting its annual meeting highlighting the growing programming initiative,

"Program Your Park – Reimagining Duluth Recreation” on Wednesday, April 17 at the Spirit Mountain Grand Avenue Chalet, 8551

Grand Ave at 5:00 pm. Parks and Recreation, along with other local community partners, will showcase what the community is

doing to program our parks! Come share your ideas, feedback, and participate in some fun new programs designed for families!

Activities include geocaching for prizes, animal tracking, disc golf and crafts. Keynote speaker of this event will be Mayor Emily Larson.

Bayfront Family Center

Recreational Equipment is available for free use and includes Frisbee golf, kites, volleyball, kick balls, croquet and more.

Champions Building Champions

Activities are facilitated by collegiate athletes who focus on building constructive relationships with the youth, while teaching the basics of sports and athletic games.

Chester Creek Concert Series

Chester Creek Concert Series is FREE music in the park. Bring your own Lawn Chair. Concession stand on site. 

Where: Chester Bowl Park - 1801 E. Skyline Parkway

Park Point Sand Modeling Contest & Water Expo

Bring your shovels, pails and creativity to build a work of art in the sand from 10am-1:00pm. Judging the art will begin at 1:00pm.  Prizes will be given in several categories. The Duluth Area YMCA will also engage in a variety of fun outdoor activities.

Free cold weather activities for the whole family including a sledding hill, snow football, cross country skiing, vendors, and more.

Outdoor Skating & Winter Playground

Open 7 days a week, weather permitting for pleasure skaters and others who want to enjoy winter at its best. Ice skates, sleds, snowshoes and snow sculpting tools available for loan. Sliding hill coming in January!

Skate with Santa & Rudolph

Join Santa and Rudolph for holiday fun and a free ice skating party, cookie decorating, holiday grafts, games and winter science demonstrations. Live DJ with special holiday music program!

DECC Skating Parties

Skate with the UMD Figure Skating Team at Amsoil Arena. Bring your own skates. Prizes for kids and music provided. Kids 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult. FREE

Valentine's Skate
