The City of Duluth is planning to reconstruct Superior Street, including all underground utilities, from 6th Avenue W to 4th Avenue E. The existing brick pavers, installed over 20 years ago, are at the end of their lifespan. In 2013, portions of the bricks were removed and replaced with asphalt due to the extent of deterioration. This temporary solution was initiated with the understanding that a long-term design process would be undertaken. The Preliminary Design was conducted from 2013 to 2015; in 2016-2017, the City is completing the Final Design.
